LB Finance PLC, through its digital arm LB CIM, partnered with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) at the two-day PayDigital Trincomalee Campaign held on 5th and 6th June 2026, promoting the adoption of secure and convenient digital payment solutions.
The initiative, spearheaded by CBSL under the theme “Shaping the Future through Digital Payments,” aimed to accelerate Sri Lanka’s transition toward a cash-lite economy by encouraging merchants and the public to embrace digital transactions. Trincomalee marked the fifth regional activation of the nationwide campaign and the second event held this year following successful events in Hambantota, Nuwara Eliya, Dambulla and Kurunegala.
Held near the Central Bus Stand from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days, the program was graced by CBSL Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Deputy Governor Mr. K. G. P. Sirikumara, and Mr. Wasantha Alwis, Director (Payments and Settlements) of the Central Bank, along with other senior officials. During the program, the LB CIM team, together with CBSL officials, engaged merchants across the city to raise awareness on the benefits of digital payments and guide them on facilitating seamless cashless transactions.
A key highlight was the promotion of the LankaQR system the national QR code standard powered by the LankaPay interoperable payment network enabling customers to make payments through any banking app to merchants displaying a LankaQR code, ensuring ease, interoperability, and financial inclusion.
Through its active participation, LB Finance reaffirmed its commitment to advancing digital transformation and supporting the country’s growing digital economy.
